An accounting assistant is a professional who provides administrative and clerical support to an accounting department. They may perform a variety of tasks, including data entry, account reconciliation, preparing financial reports, maintaining financial records, processing invoices and payments, and answering phones. Accounting assistants typically work under the supervision of accountants or financial managers, and they may have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. They may also have professional certifications, such as the Certified Bookkeeper (CB) designation. Accounting assistants may work in a variety of industries, including finance, insurance, and healthcare
